Only the good bits this time

I'm tired of whining, so I'll only write about the fun bits of the weekend.
Friday night, we saw Monsters vs Aliens 3D. It was very, very cute and Seth Rogen stole the show. Hugh Laurie was great. And Insectisaurus visually reminded me of the weird character from Horton Hears a Who.The 3D was spectacular. Bits of it were a bit predictable, but the funniest part for us was near the beginning - with Stephen Colbert as the president attempting first contact.
Saturday morning, we went to the History Museum in downtown Orlando to see the Jim Henson exhibit. It was incredible. They had notes, drawings, and art done by Jim - he was an incredible artist - and the actual Muppets of Rowlf, Mahna Mahna, Gobo from Fraggle Rock, and a few others were on display along with Statler and Waldorf's theater box. They were running several videos - the commercials the Muppets did in the 60's, Time Piece(absolutely brilliant) and a restrospective of his life and work. My only complaint was no Labryinth display. They had a bunch of stuff from The Dark Crystal. I could have stayed for another hour, but Ben was getting restless.
Speaking of Ben, he woke me up early this morning, so I took him out in the living room to let Brendon sleep a bit longer. Bren paid me back later, don't worry. So Benny and I were watching Sesame Street and the Elmo's World bit comes on and I point to the tv and say, "Look, Ben, Elmo!" Ben slides down off the couch, pulls the giant Elmo plush toy out of a bin and very clearly says, "Elmo." !!!!!! I guess they either let them watch videos at preschool or they have a lot of Elmo related toys and books there. I was so shocked, I made him say it about a hundred times today. XD

Date: 2009-03-30 05:40 pm (UTC)it's so funny what kids pick up on to say. apparently my first words were pretty random. cat and pretty. my mom says i used to like to point at dresses and things in the store and say "pretty." cat i understand since we had a cat, but pretty...i don't know where that came from.
