Musing over crap

fisme_nasuI have a rotten headache. I think it's coming from that stupid tooth.
Bren and Monkey are home sick today. I had to take Ben to day care and he behaved so wonderfully until we got there - he wanted to climb up front and "drive," but I had to come home and work, so that was a no go. He was upset when I handed him off to the teacher. I'm sure he'll get over it. Jenny suggested we buy him one of those red and yellow cars so he can sit in there and drive, but we don't have the space. Hopefully we'll get a house soon and that'll happen.
I made our ham last night and it came out beautifully. The glaze was really sweet, but the saltiness of the ham cut down on that and it was tasty. The prepackaged mashed sweet potatoes weren't so great. I gotta figure out how to make the leftovers more palatable. And I had green bean casserole - which I think I'll have for breakfast.
My check from my 401K came this weekend and I deposited it yesterday. The bank teller gave me a hard time about it, first checking the validity, then telling me they were going to tax it - I explained it was a loan, not a withdrawal - and finally telling me there was a 5 day hold due to the amount. Dammit, I wanted to pay for Disney NOW. I guess I can wait until Friday/Saturday. Speaking of money, I really want to stop living paycheck to paycheck. I've got $33 in my checking account, and that's only because I used my credit cards shamelessly this weekend. I paid them down, and now they're back up close to the limit. Very small limits, but still. :( And I want to start saving money for my kids. I have to figure this out. And not blow the whole loan and tax refund (when we get it) when we go to Disney and to California so we have something extra for emergencies.
Speaking of emergencies, they can't fix my glasses. I'll have to order a new frame for half price ($80). So I'm forced to wear my contacts - actually, I have an old pair of glasses, but I tried them on yesterday and I hated them. They made my eyes feel weird. I need to get used to wearing the contacts again because they'll be easier to deal with on vacation. Bren needs to go to the eye doctor, too. I guess he'll go when the check clears.
Time to go nom on some leftovers.
