My boss told me there's another case that was done back in January that could hurt me. FUCK. The thing I'm most afraid of in this situation is losing my health insurance. The kids are on my policy and we can't transfer over to Brendon's until October should I lose my job.

I'm so tired of being anxious over work. I know my boss will try to keep me employed, but I don't know if they'll do like they did when they put me on a written warning 3 years ago and give me back my telecommuting privileges when the 2 month period is over, or if I'll lose them permanently. I don't want to be seperated from my family for any length of time, but Katie has school and I don't want to move her before the end of the school year - well, till after all the trips are done.

I wish I could stop thinking about this until someone actually tells me something.

why wouldn't you be able to switch to brendon's insurance until october? if it comes to that, "major life changes" are generally taken into account for things like getting on health insurance through work even not during the normal enrollment periods. "major life changes" include things like marriages, children being born or adopted, and spouses losing jobs.

I didn't think that counted - our FAQ just states marriage and birth or adoption of a child (and death, but that won't be the case for many decades).

ours states a spouse losing their job...you might want to check what brendon's HR policy on that is...a spouse losing a job is a pretty major "life change" though, so it makes sense to include it

Also: COBRA. You can make it till October if you have to- especially since 65% is now getting paid from the stimulous package.

I taught a new hire class and two of the women in the class lodged a complaint about me, saying I had been unprofessional, showed favoritism towards the men, and that I talked shit about management. Some of the other students tried to defend me, but I got written up and I'll never teach a class there again.

rather, I can't teach a class ever again.

I'd double check with his insurance. Usually they make allowances for "Qualified Life Status Changes."

and the loss of familial coverage on another policy usually qualifies.

/speaking as an HR person...

Well, I'm the second or third pair of eyes to look at the case, and once I put my stamp on the case, the money leaves the bank. And they're pinching every penny, so any loss of funds is a bad, bad thing. It would normally constitute a verbal warning, but the fact that I've made some mistakes already this year makes it hard to justify just a slap on the wrist. Of course, those mistakes didn't lead to any financial loss - we recovered all the money.

I am expecting to get a written warning if they can recover the money, but if they can't, there's a big chance the person who processed the transaction and I will get fired as examples.

It might be a blessing in disguise, you never know.

I had a terrible day at work and just decided that I need to leave, so ill wait till I find a new job but will stay for now. Not interested in staying in a highstrung shitty office anymore.

I know. We decided that if I get canned, I'll take whatever job I can get and go to school for nursing or something. We're still going on vacation, dammit. I need desperately to blow off some steam.

I hope you find something good quickly.

im actually planning on making a move into a florist shop or something. I met with a gay couple last tuesday that run event planning and their own floral design studio, and i will give them a call and ask them for advice- see what I can do to get out there.

I looked up statistics and apparently being a florsit isn't any different monetarily than what im doing now- it's not too terribly much, but I really don't need to be working towards a career in my day job because I have photography and am doing well with that.

It would be nice to work in the industry more and get the HELL out of the office.

BTW nursing is a great idea, money money!! My mother has her RN and makes 36 an hour.

Why couldn't you make changes to the policy? Usually you can make changes if there is a major change in lifestyle or whatever.
