not related to this particular post at all, but we were discussing the history of young adult literature in class tonight, and one of our readings mentioned sue barton, student nurse as one of the first YA books. it made me think of you.

the books are apparently pretty bad by today's standards what with racial stereotypes and so on, but they were written in the 30's and 40's, so i think that was par for the course back then.

Apparently, I'm already going to hell for liking A Tangled Web by L.M. Montgomery because it has a racist last page. Even though it was written 80-90 years ago. :)
