Robot Chicken Star Wars was very amusing. The best part was a 10 second bit - a Jawa walks up to a bar and yells "Martini!" I giggled for about 5 minutes. Other than that, the best bits were Seth and the guys playing goofy for the camera during the commercial breaks. Loveliness.

I am in the 7th month of my parasite infestation (just kidding Benjamin, you know I love you) and the baby is making my life most interesting. He punches, kicks, and rolls at all hours. Monkey didn't do that, but I'm resigned to the fact that this one is completely different. I'm also having Braxton Hicks contractions - a new and exciting experience as well. My boss wants pregnant pics of me. Not gonna happen. I hate having my picture taken regularly. I haven't gotten that much bigger anyway. My weight is kind of a detraction to that idea. I've lost a total of 13 pounds since 8 weeks; I lost 17 pounds in the first trimester and have only gained back 4. My tummy is more round at the top and my breasts are bigger (if that's even possible). Nothing else has changed.

I'm really not looking forward to the c-section. At first, when the doctor told me the hospital doesn't allow VBAC, I was completely fine. After all, last time I was in labor for 18 hours, with pain meds, and it was awful. Now I've had time to reflect and I believe that Monkey was dated incorrectly - so they induced me 2 weeks after what they postulated was my due date. And my body didn't respond favorably to that. Plus I was scared out of my mind and had no one to reassure me. So when they told me they'd do the c-section, I agreed. Then the epidural didn't work, so they had to knock me out. When I woke up in recovery, the nurse was a total bitch and didn't believe I was in pain. All in all a really bad experience.

Now I'm 9 years older and I'm worried about the recovery time. I'm scared about the epidural. And I think I might have problems with the doctor because of my weight. I'll be meeting the doctor who will be doing the surgery (I've been seeing a nurse-midwife up till now) next week. I really hope I'm going to have a good feeling from this person, else I might run for the hills - and to another OBGYN.

that's so weird that they are requiring a section even though it's been *9 years* since the last one. i thought that was something that was really only an issue if you were having another baby less than 2 years after having a section.

A lot of hospitals nowadays have a "no VBAC" policy because of the malpractice issues. There is a small chance of a uterine rupture (around 1 percent) and they don't want to risk the lawsuits. I have to have the baby at a hospital because of my weight and anemia. There is a bill called EMTALA that says a hospital cannot force a woman to have a section, but the hospital here was in the news about 2 years ago for getting a court order to operate. I could go to one of the others in town, but they are all pretty far away, and there's no guarantee they don't have the same policy. Florida is big on the "once a section, always a section" rule.
